I started this brand out of a need to create. I’ve always worked with my hands—it’s where I’m most comfortable—and I knew early on that I wanted to build a life around making things with care and purpose. There’s something satisfying about working with natural materials, shaping them slowly and deliberately into something useful and lasting.

I began under the name Justin Starr Studio, making canvas bags and tool rolls for woodworkers. At the time, I was still closely tied to that world, having spent years in woodworking myself. But when things shifted in 2020, I used the moment to re-evaluate. I stepped away from canvas and committed fully to leather.

I taught myself everything I needed to know, starting from the ground up. I experimented, made mistakes, refined my techniques, and kept raising the bar until the work met my own standards. That process—slow, focused, uncompromising—still defines how I approach everything I make.

Today, I focus on high-end leather goods using materials like shell cordovan and full-grain vegetable-tanned leather from some of the best tanneries in the world. I design and build handbags for both women and men, and I work with retail and corporate clients to create thoughtful, well-made pieces that speak to their brand and their customers. Every item is made start to finish in my Toronto studio, by hand, by me.
