TERMS OF SERVICE
Last updated: August 2026
These Terms of Service govern your use of the Norfolk Handmade website and any purchase made through Norfolk Handmade.
Throughout these Terms, “Norfolk,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Norfolk Handmade. “You” and “your” refer to the person accessing the website or purchasing products or services from Norfolk.
By accessing this website, placing an order, approving a bespoke or custom project, or otherwise purchasing from Norfolk, you agree to these Terms of Service, together with any additional terms provided in a product listing, quotation, invoice, project agreement, Shipping & Returns Policy, or Privacy Policy.
Nothing in these Terms limits any rights or remedies available to you under applicable consumer protection law.
1. About Norfolk
Norfolk Handmade is a Toronto, Ontario leather atelier specializing in bespoke, made-to-order, and small-batch leather goods.
Business location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Email: info@norfolkhandmade.com
Website: norfolkhandmade.com
2. Website Use
You may use this website for lawful personal and commercial purchasing purposes.
You may not use the website:
-
for any unlawful or fraudulent purpose;
-
to interfere with the operation or security of the website;
-
to attempt to gain unauthorized access to the website or related systems;
-
to reproduce, copy, exploit, or distribute Norfolk content except as permitted by law or with our written permission; or
-
to misrepresent your identity or purchasing authority.
We may restrict access to the website where reasonably necessary to protect Norfolk, our customers, or the operation of the website.
3. Products and Craftsmanship
Norfolk products are handmade in Toronto.
Because leather is a natural material and each piece is made individually, minor variations in grain, texture, colour, dimensions, stitching, and other details may occur. These variations are inherent to handmade and natural-material products and are not normally considered defects.
We make reasonable efforts to describe and display products accurately. Colours may appear differently depending on your screen, lighting, photography, and the natural characteristics of the material.
Some product imagery may use digitally created or enhanced environments for presentation. Norfolk products shown in those images are intended to represent the actual design, materials, proportions, and details of the product accurately.
4. Made-to-Order and Bespoke Products
Made-to-order and bespoke products are created specifically after an order or project is confirmed.
Material selections, dimensions, hardware, colours, design details, estimated timelines, pricing, deposits, and other project-specific terms may be confirmed separately through a product page, email, quotation, invoice, or written project agreement.
Where project-specific terms conflict with these general Terms of Service, the project-specific terms will govern for that project.
Once work has begun or materials have been ordered specifically for a made-to-order or bespoke project, changes may not be possible or may result in additional charges.
Any proposed additional cost will be communicated before the additional work is undertaken.
5. Orders
Submitting an order does not necessarily mean that Norfolk has accepted it.
We reserve the right to refuse or cancel an order before acceptance where reasonably necessary, including where:
-
a product or material is unavailable;
-
there is an obvious pricing or product-description error;
-
payment cannot be authorized;
-
we reasonably suspect fraud or misuse; orwe are unable to complete the order as described.
If we cancel an order after receiving payment and no work or specially ordered materials have been committed to the project, the amount paid for the cancelled portion will be refunded.
For bespoke or custom projects, cancellation and deposit terms provided in the project quotation or agreement will apply.
6. Pricing and Currency
Unless otherwise stated, prices displayed on the website are in Canadian dollars.
Applicable sales taxes and shipping charges will be shown before an online purchase is completed where they can be determined.
International customers may also be responsible for customs duties, import taxes, brokerage charges, or other charges imposed by the destination country or carrier. Where Norfolk cannot reasonably determine these charges in advance, they are not included in the purchase price.
Norfolk does not intentionally add undisclosed mandatory fees to an advertised product price.
7. Payment
Payment must be made using one of the payment methods made available by Norfolk.
For online purchases, payment is due at checkout unless otherwise stated.
Bespoke and custom projects may require a deposit or staged payments. The applicable payment schedule and deposit terms will be provided before the project is confirmed.
You agree to provide current, complete, and accurate billing and payment information.
8. Production Times
Production times shown on the website, in quotations, or in correspondence are estimates unless Norfolk expressly agrees in writing to a guaranteed delivery date.
Handmade production may occasionally be affected by material availability, custom hardware, supplier delays, client-requested changes, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
If a significant delay occurs, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you.
Nothing in this section limits any rights you may have under applicable consumer protection legislation relating to delivery.
9. Shipping
Orders are shipped using tracked and insured services where available.
Shipping rates and available delivery methods are provided at checkout or confirmed before shipment.
Delivery times provided by carriers are estimates unless expressly guaranteed by the carrier.
Risk relating to carrier loss or damage will be handled in accordance with our Shipping & Returns Policy and applicable law.
For additional information, please review our Shipping & Returns Policy.
10. Returns, Exchanges, and Order Issues
Because Norfolk products are handmade in limited quantities or made specifically for each client, sales are generally final and we do not offer returns or exchanges for change of mind unless otherwise stated.
If an item arrives damaged, defective, or materially different from what was ordered, please contact us promptly at info@norfolkhandmade.com.
We may request photographs or other reasonable information so that we can assess the issue.
Where appropriate, Norfolk may offer a repair, replacement, or refund depending on the circumstances and applicable law.
Our return policy does not limit any statutory rights or remedies available to consumers.
Please review our Shipping & Returns Policy for additional information.
11. Natural Wear and Care
Leather changes with use and age.
Normal characteristics such as patina, softening, creasing, minor surface marking, colour development, and wear associated with normal use are not generally considered manufacturing defects.
Damage caused by misuse, accidents, improper storage, exposure to excessive moisture or heat, chemicals, unauthorized repairs, or failure to follow reasonable care instructions may not be eligible for repair or replacement without charge.
12. Repairs
Norfolk may offer repair or restoration services at our discretion.
Repair eligibility, timing, and cost depend on the condition of the item, availability of materials and hardware, and the nature of the required work.
Any repair quotation will be provided before chargeable repair work begins.
13. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, the website and its contents are owned by or licensed to Norfolk Handmade.
This includes, without limitation:
-
product designs;
-
photographs;
-
illustrations;
-

-
logos;
-

-

-

You may view the website and download or print reasonable portions for personal, non-commercial use.
You may not reproduce, manufacture from, copy, publish, distribute, sell, license, modify, or commercially exploit Norfolk content or product designs without prior written permission, except where permitted by law.
14. Third-Party Services and Links
The website may contain links to third-party websites or use third-party services for functions such as payment processing, hosting, shipping, analytics, or social media.
Norfolk does not control third-party websites and is not responsible for their independent content, terms, privacy practices, or availability.
Your use of third-party services may also be subject to the terms and policies of those providers.
15. Privacy
Personal information collected through the website or in connection with an order is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable Canadian privacy law.
Please review the Privacy Policy for information about how personal information is collected, used, stored, and disclosed.
16. Accuracy of Information
We make reasonable efforts to keep the information on the website accurate and current.
Occasionally, information may contain typographical errors, inaccuracies, or omissions relating to product descriptions, availability, pricing, or other information.
Where an obvious error is identified, Norfolk may correct it. If an error materially affects an order you have already placed, we will contact you and provide any options required by applicable law before proceeding.
17. Availability
Because Norfolk operates as a small atelier, production capacity and material availability are limited.
We may discontinue products, materials, colours, hardware, or other options at any time.
We do not guarantee that a product or material previously displayed will remain available indefinitely.
18. Website Availability
We aim to keep the website available and functioning correctly, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access.
We may temporarily suspend or modify portions of the website for maintenance, security, updates, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
19. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Norfolk is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses resulting solely from your use of the website.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be prohibited by law, nor does anything in these Terms limit rights or remedies provided to consumers under applicable legislation.
20. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to be responsible for losses, claims, or expenses reasonably incurred by Norfolk as a direct result of your unlawful misuse of the website or your infringement of Norfolk's intellectual property rights.
This section does not apply to ordinary consumer use of Norfolk products or services.
21. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time.
The version applicable to a purchase is the version presented or otherwise made available to you when that purchase or agreement is entered into, together with any applicable project-specific terms.
Changes to these Terms will not retroactively remove rights or materially alter an existing consumer agreement where prohibited by law.
The date of the most recent update will appear at the top of this page.
22. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
23. Governing Law
These Terms and your use of the website are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario.
Nothing in this section limits any mandatory consumer protection rights that apply to you under applicable law.
